About the course

This one-day, online course looks at how healthcare professionals working in maternity services can best support patients in the early stages of mental distress.

Over recent years there has been a huge increase in understanding of perinatal mental health and investment in the care of women who experience mental illness during this time of their lives. What is increasingly being recognised is the importance of promotion of mental wellbeing and prevention of mental illness as being a key part of this.

We will break the concept of wellbeing into key components, allowing participants to enhance their skills and confidence in promoting good mental health and preventions strategies, identifying when patients are at risk of deterioration, harnessing strengths and resilience factors, and accessing appropriate support.

This course is for midwives, maternity support workers, obstetricians and gynaecologists, neonatal staff, health visitors, mental health professionals, and primary care staff who work with babies and families.
