About the course

Wellbeing for Doctors

Returning to clinical work after a career break can be a daunting prospect. For many healthcare professionals, it can be an intimidating and isolating process with many challenges, including having to navigate system and service changes while relearning and refreshing clinical skills.

The course focuses on developing skills that we can use to support ourselves and others to successfully return to clinical work. This includes coaching and communication skills, approaches to self-care and wellbeing, work-life balance, and reflective practice.

The day involves mini didactic sessions, reflective group discussions, practical skills sessions, peer support opportunities, and planning and goal setting exercises to help returners prepare themselves for working in clinical NHS settings.

Audience:

This multi-disciplinary, interprofessional training day is for doctors returning to clinical work in the NHS following an absence for any reason. Participants can be from any specialty or setting within the NHS across the South of England.

The fusion of Education and the Health Service is extremely exciting and now indeed essential; I am thrilled that St Mary’s is at the forefront of this. I am truly invigorated to disseminate many nuggets of wisdom and tangible strategies gained yesterday to my entire school community.
