Dr Sarah Cannell

Sarah Cannell is a social work consultant, trainer and previously, an AMHP. She has wide experience within the field of child psychiatry in forensic work, child care assessments and working with young people with severe mental health problems. Until 2017 she worked as social work manager, safeguarding lead and CAMHS MHA lead for South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust. She is a Specialist member of the Mental Health Tribunal Service Panel and CAMHS member and a specialist advisor to the CQC. She trains AMHPs on the use of the MHA with children and young people and on parental mental illness. She worked on the DH steering group to implement the 2015 Code of Practice of the MHA.
