Course description

This 2-Day Course is open to administration, clerical, and support staff Bands 1-4 who have regular contact with people with Serious Mental Ill Health in Community Settings including primary care. Participants will need to be available to attend both days.

Learning objectives

Day One

Workshop day and participants will:

  • Develop Knowledge of mental illness and treatments
  • Understand the needs and experiences of people with mental health conditions
  • Learn some new communication techniques and de-escalation skills
  • Understanding the need for health and wellbeing for all

Day Two

Simulation Day -Embedding the learning by using the skills developed in day one.

Scenarios will be common dilemma’s or situations you might find yourself in your day to day work.

Thanks to commissioning from HEE, we have been able to provide funded places on this course to increasing numbers of healthcare professionals, extending our mission to make quality mental health training available to all.

There has been variability in attendance on some of our courses, which can impact the quality of delivery and lead to cancellations. We ask that you let us know if you are no longer able to attend a course so that we can offer your place to someone else on the waiting list. In some cases, your line manager may be notified, where we have no record of a cancellation.
