Mental Health Training for GPs

Online and in person

At Maudsley Learning, you’ll find a range of mental health training courses suitable for GPs. Whether you want to learn more as part of your CPD, or just want to provide better care for your patients, you’ll find courses on a range of topics.

4 in 5 GPs agree that there should be more options for mental health training, according to a 2018 Mind survey. Respondents also estimated that 4 in 10 of their consultations involve a discussion of mental health, which is only increasing over time. As more and more people require support, learn how to deal with a range of mental health scenarios via our services.

Maudsley Learning is part of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), which is the provider of the most extensive portfolio of mental health services in the UK. Book your course online today or get in touch to discuss bespoke or group sessions.

How it works

Courses are delivered via a variety of methods. Some are delivered in-person in London with our team of expert clinicians, counsellors and researchers. Others can be done online, either in a live setting or via pre-recorded sessions.

The teaching methods vary from course to course, too. For example, they can include talks from expert speakers, group discussions, role play and even simulation training. In short, you have options to choose a course that best suits your learning style.

You can book on to a course as an individual participant. But organisations can also make group bookings, or request a bespoke course. Get in touch to speak to a member of our team, and we’ll work with you to design a course that best suits your training requirements.

Benefits of mental health training

Learn from the experts

Maudsley Learning consists of a team of clinicians who are experts in their field. The people leading our courses have lots of experience, and will provide you with only the most accurate, up-to-date information available on the topic.

Provide better care

An increasing number of GP appointments involve some discussion of mental health. As a result, GPs need to be equipped to deal with a range of mental health issues and scenarios. Mental health training will provide you with knowledge, skills and tools to support these patients.
