About the course

This course aims to enhance confidence and skills when working with patients experiencing chronic psychotic symptoms, particularly those struggling with self-care and engaging in Activities of Daily Living.

Learning objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Enhance Communication Skills: Develop effective communication strategies for interacting with individuals experiencing acute psychosis.
  • Identify Psychotic Symptoms: Recognise a range of psychotic symptoms and associated behaviours.
  • Understand Cognitive Impairments: Identify and address cognitive and executive functioning impairments impacting engagement with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
  • Manage Personal Responses: Develop skills to manage personal responses to challenging situations, fostering positive and supportive relationships with patients.
  • Apply Knowledge in Practice: Implement learned strategies to improve patient care and support individuals with acute psychosis
