About the course

This interactive specialist mental health training course for staff working in Crisis or Home Treatment Teams is designed to build staff knowledge, confidence, and skills in working with patients in mental health crises.

Using experiential training techniques, participants will have the opportunity to work through a variety of simulated scenarios involving the management of complex, multifaceted cases with high levels of emotional distress and risk.

Participants will be encouraged to explore how to manage resources, make decisions, and work collaboratively with patients and their families to provide personalised care.

Learning objectives

After attending the course, participants will be able to:

  • Consolidate and strengthen the quality of mental health assessments.
  • Increase their confidence in assessing and making decisions based on risks.
  • Enhance their skills and techniques in responding to people in emotional distress.
  • Adapt their communication skills depending on the situation and recipient.
