About the course

This course is designed for higher education students, such as those at university or college, to develop their personal well-being skills for success while studying. The course aims to improve the well-being of students during different transition points in their educational journey.

Transition points may include entering and leaving university, moving between academic years, and semester breaks. During these times, students may experience additional challenges related to academic and financial pressures, relationships, differences between home and university life, homesickness, and other aspects of student life. By exploring personal skills and experiences within a group of peers, students can feel more confident in managing hurdles and navigating transitions during their university experience, all while building connections with other students.

This course may be particularly useful for students who identify as first in their family to attend university or who are studying without other forms of familial support (such as mature students, care-experienced students, international students, carers, and others). The program was developed in collaboration with St Mary’s University Twickenham, University of West London, and King’s College London as part of an Office for Students funded project to improve student well-being during transition points in their university journey. It was co-created with university students who have lived experience to benefit other students.

E-learning modules

As part of the programme, students can access an e-learning package of digital resources to support their individual wellbeing, and personal reflection. The digital resources are broken down into four modules that build on each other. The primary modules provide a foundation of knowledge and skills to manage student wellbeing, whilst the subsequent modules build skills and knowledge to promote and enhance mental health in a personalised approach. Our core modules are called:

1. Identify
