About the course

A free, half-day taught course focusing on understanding self-harm and supporting people who are engaging in self-harming behaviours.

Many people who are suffering from mental distress may, at some point, engage in behaviours that harm themselves and can potentially be dangerous. In this course, we will discuss common forms of self-harm and explore why people engage in these behaviours. We will help participants develop their confidence in discussing self-harm with clients, consider the associated risks, think about how they may help people, and when to seek help.

Using realistic case-based scenarios and interactive learning, this course provides an engaging learning experience for those wishing to improve their knowledge and confidence in supporting clients engaging in self-harming behaviours. There will be opportunities for discussion around the cases, facilitated by our expert clinical tutors.

This course is relevant for both clinical and non-clinical staff and will allow participants to build on their existing knowledge and improve their confidence in supporting those engaging in self-harm.
