Dr Alexander Curmi

Consultant Psychiatrist | Founder and Host, Thinking Mind Podcast

Dr Alexander Curmi is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 10 years of medical experience, specialising in General Adult Psychiatry with a subspecialty interest in Addictions. He has worked across a range of clinical settings, including inpatient wards, therapy services and accident and emergency, supporting people with both common and complex mental health difficulties.

Originally from Malta, Alex obtained his medical degree from the University of Malta in 2013 before undertaking psychiatric training at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He completed his core psychiatric training in 2019 and is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Alongside his psychiatric training, he completed three years of psychotherapy training at the Metanoia Institute in London.

His clinical interests include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, trauma, personality difficulties, addiction, stress and relationship difficulties. His approach combines a detailed understanding of each person’s experiences with practical, collaborative treatment planning, drawing on medication, psychological approaches, psychoeducation and lifestyle interventions where appropriate.

Alex has a particular interest in psychotherapy, mindfulness meditation and medical education. He is also the founder and host of the Thinking Mind Podcast, where he explores mental health, psychology and wellbeing through in depth conversations with experts from around the world.
