Dr Marcela Schilderman
Psychiatrist | Simulation Educator | Advocate for Inclusive Mental Health Training

Dr Marcela Schilderman is a dual-trained psychiatrist in general and older adult psychiatry at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. She is an experienced simulation educator and a strong advocate for inclusive, co-produced training initiatives in mental health services. Dr Schilderman previously completed a Medical Education Fellowship with Maudsley Simulation, where she helped develop and deliver innovative, interdisciplinary simulation programmes aimed at improving clinical practice and patient outcomes.
Her clinical and academic work focuses on improving access, communication, and decision-making in mental health services. She has contributed to a wide range of published research exploring themes such as advance choice documents, trauma-informed care, and simulation training for underrepresented groups including police, emergency services, and racially minoritised communities.
Dr Schilderman has authored and co-authored over 10 peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations, with key contributions to the development and evaluation of novel training programmes addressing patient safety, service user autonomy, and clinician wellbeing. She continues to design and deliver simulation training that promotes collaboration between service users, carers, and clinicians.
