Prof. David Taylor
Director of Pharmacy and Pathology
David Taylor serves as the Director of Pharmacy and Pathology at the Maudsley Hospital and holds the position of Professor of Psychopharmacology at KCL. In 2014, he achieved recognition among the top 100 clinical leaders in the NHS by the Health Service Journal. Additionally, David is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Therapeutic Advances in Psychopharmacology (IF 5.0). He played a vital role as a member of the UK Department of Transport expert panel responsible for introducing drug-driving regulations. Currently, he is an active member of the UK government’s Advisory Council on Misuse of Drugs. His notable contributions include formal involvement in five NICE Guidelines, and he has been the lead author of the Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines since their inception in 1993. With over 300,000 copies sold in fourteen editions and twelve languages, the guidelines reflect his significant impact. David's extensive academic output comprises more than 375 clinical papers published in esteemed journals such as the Lancet, BMJ, JAMA Psychiatry, British Journal of Psychiatry, and Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. These papers have collectively garnered over 14,000 citations, highlighting Professor Taylor's substantial influence in the field. His scholarly achievements are further underscored by an H Index of 69.
