Selena Galloway

Selena is passionate about workplace well-being, diversity, equity, equality and inclusion, and behaviour change. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Gloucestershire and an MSc in Health Psychology from University College London. Through the utilisation of domain knowledge and experience gained through previous workplace wellbeing projects as well as working in other industries, including private and public healthcare, Selena has produced high quality deliverables such as Needs Analyses, mixed methods evaluation, secondary research and more. From her expertise, she has helped other organisations improve their health and wellbeing offers, through actionable recommendations, derived from intensive research and evidenced based practice. She possesses high level skills in qualitative research methods, such as thematic analysis, discourse analysis and others, which she combines with her effectiveness using quantitative methods via surveys or psychological experiments.

Background

Selena has studied various subjects in college including Business, Psychology and Law, where she gained a knowledge base in business practices, business law and people. Through her studies in Health Psychology, Selena has a deep understanding of Healthcare and Intervention Delivery (in the context of the NHS), effective research practices, Individual, Social and Cultural perspectives and Health Related Behaviours and Cognitions. These varying areas have been used to provide organisations with bespoke research provision and evidence-based recommendations. She has utilised behaviour change models to create interventions, such as the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the COM-B model to address health behaviours such as sedentary behaviour, healthy eating and physical activity.

Motivations for wanting to work in health and wellbeing at work:

Selena has worked in many industries, including hospitality, retail, public and private healthcare which has exposed her to the varying difficulties that employees experience whilst in the workplace that have an impact on their physical, financial, emotional, and mental wellbeing. She has become motivated and keen to make an impact in organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of employees from different industries and businesses. She aims to one day work in a large business, having a senior stake in workplace health and wellbeing interventions and working closely with employees to make their working lives better in the long term.

Throughout her academic and professional career, Selena has generated research interests in topics such as body image, mental health, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, behaviour change, race inequalities, diversity and inclusion, equality and equity, gender inequalities, workplace health and wellbeing and many others that she has explored during her time at university and in the workplace.
