Our Purpose, Approach and Partnerships
Why It Matters
People living with severe mental illness often face stigma and structural barriers that can limit their ability to gain and sustain meaningful employment. Work Well by Maudsley responds to this challenge by equipping employers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to offer appropriate support at the right time. By promoting inclusive practice, the tool helps people with severe mental illness remain in work, support their recovery, and contribute positively to organisational wellbeing and productivity.
Our Approach
Work Well by Maudsley has been developed through a collaborative and evidence based approach that brings together service users, clinicians, and employers. The content is grounded in clinical research and real world workplace practice, ensuring it is both credible and practical. The project aligns with the NHS Long Term Plan ambition to support people with severe mental illness to live and work well, while also contributing to wider sustainability and innovation goals.
