About the course

This two-day course offers a comprehensive introduction to debriefing skills within simulation-based education (SBE) for mental health settings. Through a blend of interactive group sessions, case studies, practical examples, workshops, demonstrations, and small group practice, participants will develop both their knowledge and confidence in delivering effective debriefs.

The course explores the critical link between clinical mental health practice and debriefing, providing structured models and strategies to navigate common challenges. Facilitated by experienced educators from the Maudsley Simulation faculty, the course draws on a wide range of successful SBE case studies involving multidisciplinary teams and faculty development programmes.

Simulation-based education plays a vital role in enhancing training, supporting workforce development, and promoting recruitment and retention in psychiatry and mental health. Strong debriefing skills are key to unlocking the full potential of this educational method.
