Learning objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the functional impact of Tardive Dyskinesia (TD) on patients’ lives.

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of TD in both early and late stages, and assess its severity using the AIMS examination.

  • Understand the differential diagnosis of TD and distinguish it from other extrapyramidal movement disorders.

  • Identify strategies for preventing the progression of TD and managing established cases.

  • Confidently discuss the diagnosis and management of TD with patients and carers.
