September 2025 – July 2026 | 3 Terms

This advanced training course is designed for those who have completed either the one-year weekly TFP introductory course, the six-day introductory course, or are currently practising Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP).

Format: Online Zoom seminar
Frequency: Weekly sessions, 1 hour 30 minutes each
Time: Tuesday mornings, 9:15 – 10:45 am (UK time)

Course overview

This course is for therapists who have completed the initial 63 hours of didactic instruction in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), as set-out by the International Society of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy for accreditation. It aims to enhance participants understanding and skills in applying TFP. Most participants are likely to have begun treating a patient or patients withTFP.

The course involves attending a weekly 90-minute Zoom seminar held on Tuesdays from 9.15 a.m. to 10.45 p.m. UK time. Each seminar will encompass one or two presentations by trainees, alongside a discussion of a TFP theory or practice paper chosen for its relevance to cases discussed. The trainers will supervise the cases and encourage input from the participants.

Attendees will be encouraged to present written summaries of sessions, with more detailed sections, and to show a section of a video of a therapy session, having obtained the patient’s written consent for the recording to be discussed with professional colleagues.

Those who attend at least 80% of the sessions will receive a certificate from the TFP-UK group and will be eligible to join the ISTFP.
