Ermias Alemu

Mental Health Promotion & Wellbeing Lead

Ermias Alemu is a health improvement and public mental health expert with a strong commitment to addressing health inequalities. He has significant experience in strategic planning, community development, stakeholder engagement, and healthcare programme management.

With a clinical background and 25 years of experience, Ermias has supported marginalised groups facing mental health challenges within the NHS, as well as in the private and voluntary sectors. Before joining Maudsley Learning 18 months ago, he managed SLaM’s Mental Health Promotion Service for eight years, specialising in public mental health. In this role, he was responsible for the end-to-end process of assessing and developing mental health promotion interventions, including commissioning, designing, delivering, and evaluating outcomes.

Ermias holds an MSc in Transcultural Mental Health Care and is a qualified RECC trainer. He is passionate about addressing mental health inequalities among diverse communities through preventative and public mental health interventions.
