Dr Jacqui Dyer MBE

Mental Health Equalities Advisor for NHS England

Dr Jacqui Dyer MBE is an independent health and social care consultant with lived experience. She was Vice-Chair of England's Mental Health Taskforce, which developed the 5-Year Forward View for Mental Health (NHSE) and contributed to the transformation of mental health service policy and provision. This work, with a strong emphasis on reducing mental health inequalities, was further reinforced in the NHS Long Term Plan for Mental Health.

As NHS England’s Mental Health Equalities Advisor, Jacqui chairs the NHSE Advancing Mental Health Equalities Taskforce. She also chairs the Patient & Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) Steering Group, which co-produced the first NHS anti-racism framework (PCREF), published on 30 October 2023. This framework becomes mandatory for all mental health services in England from April 2024.

Jacqui is an elected Lambeth Councillor and Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy and Equalities. She co-founded and chairs Lambeth’s Black Thrive Partnership, which aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Black Caribbean and African citizens by addressing systemic inequities and structural racism. She is also a director of Black Thrive Global, a social enterprise continuing the partnership's legacy by promoting race equity and tackling anti-Black racism.

Jacqui was a member of the Mental Health Act Review (MHAR) and co-chaired its African & Caribbean Working Group (MHARAC). She is currently the Mental Health Equalities Advisor for NHSE and holds the position of joint Cabinet Member for Healthier Communities in Lambeth. Additionally, she co-leads the Mayor of London’s Thrive LDN programme and serves as the President of the Mental Health Foundation UK.
