About the course
CPD: equivalent to 6 hours CPD
This one-day interactive simulation training course is open to midwifes and health visitors who are involved in the care of women with mental health problems, during pregnancy or following delivery.
About the course:
Participants will have the opportunity to be involved in a series of simulated scenarios focusing on the assessment and management of a variety of perinatal mental health presentations including depression, anxiety, postpartum psychosis, personality disorder and substance misuse. After each scenario participants are encouraged to reflect on experiences and learning through specifically designed debrief models, to help them learn positively and constructively from the experience.
The course also addresses the challenges faced when seeing patients in different environments including the emergency department, the obstetric ward, the GP surgery and at home. It aims to get different professionals working together to further their understanding of the challenges faced and enhance cross discipline working.
This course is being funded by Bromley CCG and is only open to staff working for organisations based in Bromley.
What you will learn from taking this course:
- demonstrate improved confidence, knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of perinatal mental illness.
