Buying our products (training course, The Maze Book and eBook)
Confirmation of the purchase will be sent to the customer by email once payment has been received. The methods of payment are outlined below.
For training courses, provisional bookings will only be held for four weeks and will not be held when the course is full.
Payment must be made in full prior to the course date, either online at the time of booking or on receipt of an invoice in case of bespoke training. Maudsley Learning reserves the right to re-allocate the training course place to another delegate if fees are not paid within one week prior to the commencement of the course.
All payments must be made in pounds sterling.
All course fees include associated course notes, other course material and attendance certificates unless otherwise stated. Travel, accommodation, meals and refreshments are not included unless otherwise stated.
Payment must be made using one of the options below. Cash payments are not accepted.
- Online payment: Via the Maudsley Learning website
- By cheque: Cheques must be made payable to “South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust”. Post dated cheques are not accepted.
- Invoice: When requesting to pay by invoice a purchase order number must be provided or written authority to invoice must be provided at the time of booking from the paying organisation or person.
Cancelling course bookings
Maudsley Learning will make every effort to run courses, events etc, as published; however, we reserve the right to cancel a course or event at any time without liability. In these circumstances, delegates will be offered an alternative date (where possible). Maudsley Learning reserves the right to alter any of the courses’ content without prior notice. Maudsley Learning and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust are not liable for any other loss.
All cancellations to bookings must be received in writing by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Notice of cancellation fees.
If the cancellation is made:
More than 28 days before the course starts – a full refund will be given.
Between 28-14 days before the course starts – a cancellation fee of 50% will be retained.
Less than 14 days before the course starts or no show on the day the full course fee will be retained.
Cancelling in-house/bespoke courses
The cancellation terms of in-house/bespoke courses are stated in the service level agreement.
Changing delegate details – substitutes
There will be no charge if a substitute person wishes to replace the original delegate. Please inform our office in writing by emailing email@example.com of any change to the original booking.
If the registered delegate fails to attend on the day the full fee will be retained by Maudsley Learning/South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

Maudsley Learning work within the Distance Selling Regulations
Shopping online, by mail order, over the phone or through a TV shopping channel can be more convenient and cheaper than the high street. But there are drawbacks to not being able to see and touch items.
We respect your right to cancel starts from the moment you place your order and doesn’t end until seven working days from the day after you receive your goods
If your goods are faulty, or you’re sent substitute items that you don’t want, the retailer (in this case Maudsley Learning) must pay return postage costs.
The Distance Selling Regulations
The Distance Selling Regulations protect you as a consumer and your rights when buying products from a distance, for example, online or over the phone. They set out information the seller must give about the goods or service on offer, including:
- a description of the goods or service
- the price of the goods or service
- delivery and any cancellation rights
- information about the seller
- Changing your mind?
- How to exercise my right to cancel and who is responsible for the cost of returning goods?
You can cancel your order at anytime, up to 7 working days from the day after receiving your order. However you will be liable for the costs of returning the product if it has been issued to you.
Your right to cancel an order
The Distance Selling Regulations state that your right to cancel an order starts the moment you place your order and doesn’t end until seven working days from the day after you receive your goods. You will receive confirmation of your cancellation by email, letter or fax.
When to expect your goods
The Distance Selling Regulations say that goods must be delivered within the time frame you agree with the seller.
If no time frame is agreed, the seller has 30 days from the day after they receive your order to deliver your goods.
Who pays return postage?
Unless the goods are damaged on delivery all, costs of returning goods are met by the purchaser.
Maudsley Learning does not substitute goods.
Returning faulty goods
If you receive faulty goods and wish to return them, The Distance Selling Regulations are in addition to your other legal rights.
So, if you find your goods are faulty and don’t do what they’re supposed to, or don’t match the description given by us at Maudsley Learning, you have the same consumer rights under the Sale of Goods Act as you have when buying face to face.
Any terms and conditions that say you must cover the cost of returning an item wouldn’t apply where the goods being returned are faulty.
Maudsley Learning will accept from its customers unwanted books within 7 working days of delivery, if they are in the condition they were issued in and with a valid confirmation of purchase. For example, an email confirmation or receipt. If they are returned in time and in the same condition, a full refund will be given.
eBook refund policy
Sale of The Maze eBook is final and cannot be refunded. If however, you find that the eBook is faulty, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will look to resolve the problem. Customers are advised to read the summary of the eBook and ensure they are happy with the description of the contents before proceeding with the purchase. Please ensure you have the correct eReader to read the eBook before purchasing. SLaM Learning Solutions will not make refunds for not having the correct software or hardware to use this eProduct (see our disclaimer).
No liability shall attach to a party which is unable to perform its obligations under this Agreement (Contract) due to events or circumstances beyond its reasonable control; these include but are not limited to:
- act of god including extreme weather events, tempest, flood, fire, or natural disaster
- war, civil war, sabotage or act of terrorism
- crime and civil unrest
- government sanction, embargo, import or export regulation or order
- labour disputes, including strikes, lockouts, boycotts or other industrial action (but usually strikes of the labour force of the party claiming force majeure are expressly excluded)
- failure in the transportation of equipment, machinery or personnel or in the provision of any utility including power, gas, water, or communication services
- or any event or circumstance beyond the reasonable control of a party
- The party affected by such events or circumstances shall advise the other as soon as practicable of the same and when such events or circumstances no longer prevail.
If an event of force majeure occurs and as a result one party is prevented from performing this agreement, the agreement shall come to an end with the party in default not being liable to the other party.
Data processing policy
In line with the Data Protection Act 1998, your data will be processed fairly and lawfully. At no time will your personal information be passed to third parties or organisations for marketing or sales purposes. However, Maudsley Learning may, from time to time, send you information on other SLS educational products that may be of interest to you.
